Jan 7 - Amazing. I have not posted since August 2nd. What has Congress done in that time? Well, there was recently the NDAA - National Defense Authorization Act. Plus, at the last minute, Congress finally extended the payroll tax cuts - for just two months. The "Super Committee" was not able to come to an agreement, so automatic cuts will be taking place. The economy did create 1.6 million jobs in 2011. This in spite of Congress, not because of it. The BLS reports that Government cut 280,000 jobs in 2011. Without those cuts, the economy would have created over 2 million jobs in 2011.
Aug 2 - Having worked out a deal that Missouri Congressman Cleaver calls a "Satan sandwich" Congress promptly goes on vacation for August, promising to finally work on the economy when they come back. They promise to create jobs. Too bad that by cutting government spending, they are going to be destroying jobs. So they are a little bit like a fire department that starts a barn on fire, then goes on vacation promising when they come back they are gonna start putting out fires.
